Phase 4 of the capital development project has made such a positive difference to our academy. The brand-new sports hall markings are extremely useful for the teaching of sports science and physical education.
We have ensured that the pathways on the school grounds are much more pleasant for our community to use as our families access different parts of the site. The pathway adjacent to the sports hall has been relocated, resurfaced and widened, enabling suitable access for prams, buggies and wheelchairs.
Further to this, we have established a new path from the back gate and then along the front of the family hub bungalow. This has resulted in this access being widened and a clear separation from the driveway where cars come in, having created a pedestrian path designated for use of our children and families. This work has included the development of neat and tidy bin storage. All of the rear carpark has been resurfaced.
Phase 4 has seen further elements of the plan for the Conservation and Companionship Garden come to fruition. To compliment the living wall, chicken coup and wildflower meadow areas, we have planted a poppy meadow connected to our Remembrance Day commemorations. We enjoy seeing this flourish and bloom in the summer months. Areas of the garden have been levelled and resurfaced to allow us to seat and host our companions. Allotment planters have been added so that our ‘house teams’ can grow fruit and vegetables that represent the house colours and the rainbow. The growing beds are at different heights to support pre-school age companions and our elderly friends.
Our internal nursery entrance, leading to the nursery classroom and the assembly hall has been fully renovated. Classroom technology throughout the academy has also been significantly enhanced.
The old moribund signage has been removed and new signage has created a professional and welcoming impact.
During the summer holiday of 2024, extensive work to replace key sections of the roof was completed. This was inclusive of the Sports Hall and Early Years and Foundation Stage areas. Roof replacement is continuing in the current academic year.
Over the summer and autumn of 2025, further work on the school roof has been carried out to replace the next significant section of our roof. The work completed extended to the dining/assembly hall roof, the library area as well as the Family Hub Bungalow. Clearance of the academy pond areas was completed in preparation for extending our valuable outdoor science learning areas.
