Dear Parents and Carers,

At approximately 2.30pm today, we experienced a significant ground tremor and power cut in one office area of school. Though we have now had some early analysis done by engineers to detect the cause of the incident, those investigations are not yet fully complete. The remainder of those investigative works will take place tomorrow.

After very careful consideration which has taken into account the views of engineers and our Health and Safety Director, we have come to the conclusion that the safest and most sensible course of action for us to take is to close Ryecroft Academy tomorrow (Friday 7th June).

We recognise that this will cause some inconvenience for families and apologise for this.
We are confident that the matter will be fully resolved during the course of tomorrow. As soon as we have a definitive position, we will contact you immediately.
We are confident that school will be open as normal on Monday 10th June.

Kind regards,
Helen Townsley
